I’m currently looking for a graphic design intern who will be working with me in the marketing department. This is an immediate opening. I’ll appreciate your help in forwarding the message below to your students at the Department of Art and Visual Technology:
Joy of Motion Dance Center (JOMDC) is a nonprofit dance education organization offering dance classes to adults and children 7 days a week in the Washington, DC area. Since 1976, JOMDC has earned a reputation for excellence in dance education, diversity of programming, and community service. As the largest dance center in the region, JOMDC believes that "Dance is for Everyone". We are currently seeking a Graphics Intern for 20 hours a week, starting immediately.
Qualifications: Undergraduate student, college graduate, or graduate student. A demonstrated qualification in graphic design such as a certificate, diploma or degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to work with both web-based and print media.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have Internet and database skills, be detail-oriented, motivated, creative, and have an understanding of marketing and design across multiple media platforms. Having experience or interest in working in a performing arts or nonprofit setting is preferred. PC use and knowledge required; MAC also available.
Responsibilities Include:
Assist the Marketing Manager in creating designs, concepts, and sample layouts of printed collateral for use in advertising, publications, signage, and other materials that support the institutional branding efforts of Joy of Motion.
Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
Coordinate submission of design materials to media providers.
Regularly update the upcoming new Joy of Motion website and the weekly on-line newsletter.
Internships are not paid; however interns may take advantage of unlimited free dance classes at all JOMDC studio locations.
Thank you in advance,
Orit.
