POSITION: Graphic Design Intern
THIS POSITION REPORTS TO:
Multimedia Graphic Designer
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITES: None

Intern will be helping the Multimedia Graphic Designer with development of creative
and designs for collateral, marketing materials, proposals, presentations, etc. that are consistent with Southland’s brand. The qualified intern will report to the Multimedia Graphic Designer and will interface with key marketing contacts and interns to translate design concepts into tangible materials that strengthen the brand of the company. The intern will also assist in the maintenance of Southland’s website and other forms of electronic media. Intern must have strong communication and listening skills, attention
to detail, an aptitude for marketing, and be willing to actively contribute within a team environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Helps determine size and arrangements of material and copy, selects style and size of type, and arranges layout based upon available space and aesthetic design concepts.
Able to problem solve creatively within brand guidelines.
Knowledge of grammar and composition rules required for editing and proofreading material.
Strong layout and typography skills are required.
A working knowledge of both
Macintosh and PC platforms, and the ability to work with and convert files on
both platforms.
EDUCATION /
EXPERIENCE:
Enrolled in a certified graphic/ multimedia/ web design curriculum
Working knowledge of Microsoft suite
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Web development and/or multimedia skills a plus
PHYSICAL
CAPABILITIES:
Interns are required
to be physically able to walk and climb stairs, use their hands, eyes and ears to
perform and communicate with others.
