Human Rights Campaign Internship Program

The Human Rights Campaign is America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
HRC effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support to fair-minded candidates and works to educate the public on a wide array of topics affecting LGBT Americans, including workplace, family, health, religious and youth issues. The HRC Foundation, the public education and outreach division of HRC, engages in extensive research and provides educational resources and programming around these issues.
HRC’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Focusing on leadership training and developing one’s voice as an LGBT advocate, HRC’s internship program connects interns to some of the foremost LGBT and allied leaders. In addition, interns play an active role within a program at HRC while developing professional skills and experiencing various parts of a non-profit advocacy organization. We treat our interns as junior staff members; an intern should expect both substantive and administrative work.
Along with the duties listed in the internship descriptions, interns receive special projects that will allow them to grow and explore their interests while here at HRC. Our internship program also includes a series of educational brown bag lunches, through which every intern will learn about all aspects of the organization.

To apply for an internship at HRC, visit www.hrc.org/intern and complete our online application. In addition to the form itself, we require you to submit a cover letter, resume and 2-5 page writing sample.
The application deadline for Spring 2010 is Friday, November 13. Interns are hired on a rolling basis, so apply early!
