Job Description:
The National MS Society, National Capital Chapter is looking for a talented individual to help develop and design Chapter publications, including newsletters, program brochures and direct mail pieces. Contribute your graphic design skills and gain experience working for a world free of MS. This position is funded by the ExxonMobil Foundation as part of the Community Summer Jobs Program.
Requirements:
• Internship takes place May through August 2011
• Intern must work a minimum of 35 hours a week for 8 weeks.
• Candidates must be currently enrolled, full-time, undergraduate students enrolled in a U.S. college/university who will be returning to college as a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior in the fall of 2010. (Full-time is defined as at least 12 credit hours.)
• Graduate students are not eligible.
• Student must have earned at least 24 credits.
• International students must be eligible to work in t he U.S.
• Position is a paid internship.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and design numerous publications for client programs and services, special events and traditional fundraising.
• Support the Chapter's graphic design department on special projects as assigned, such as editing mass-market brochures and the Chapter's newsletter.
• Contribute to or otherwise assist the Graphic Design Coordinator.
Skills Desired:
Qualified applicants should have:
• Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Strong foundation in the principles of Graphic Design and Typography.
• Good oral and written communication abilities and a desire to work with a variety of people.
• Ability to take initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
