Description: L-3/D.P. Associates is seeking a Junior 3D artist reporting to the Lead
Artist/Character Artist in their Arlington, VA location. The candidate will work
to create high quality character animations and models. This includes
painting textures and rigging. Finished products include interactive flash,
composited aftereffects videos, design & print work. Clients range from the
Department of Defense, local Government, Division to Division and
Commercial.
Duties: Essential Duties:
• Animate characters in 3ds max. This includes lip synching to audio and
bones/biped animating.
• Rigging and texturing of existing or new characters.
• Work with Lead Character Artist to create animations and new designs for
characters.
• Be able to model realistic characters as opposed to cartoon style or game
lever characters.
• Be able to give characters a sense of personality and life.
• Plan scenes by storyboarding sequences.
• Comping Renders with Aftereffects and adjusting.
• Running and managing networked renders.
Other Duties:
• Working in Photoshop to create designs/illustrations for other ongoing
projects in the department.
• Creating collateral and misc. print work.
Requirements:
• Completion of an Art & Design Program from accredited post-secondary
institution. BFA preferred.
• Strong understanding of human anatomy, proportion, scale and
perspective.
• Strong understanding of principles of animation.
• Strong sense of design.
• Solid knowledge of 3ds max & Photoshop.
• Good understanding of Aftereffects and compositing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact
effectively with writers.
• Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change.
• Ability to adapt to the visual styles of others.
• Adapt to the flow of various projects at one time.
