Organization Description: The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is a large performing arts organization that presents a wide spectrum of the performing arts: music, dance, theatre, opera and related education programs. AOL’s news and information channels are seeking passionate, talented and courageous interns to join forces with our design team in Dulles, Virginia. At the forefront of online media, interns will gain real work experience and learn how design and business work together in a fast paced environment while getting paid to do so.

Program Highlights
A design intern’s main responsibilities include design support for editorial features, new pages/sections of sites, production and maintenance work as well as research. You will be exposed to the creative process at AOL while working with a diverse group of top art directors and designers. The work you create will be seen by millions of people. Interns are paid based on experience at an hourly rate and are expected to work a full time schedule of around 40 hours per week.

Candidates should be
• Fluent in standard web/interactive design software and tools.
Required: Adobe CS and knowledge of web optimization of images
Desired: CSS skills and knowledge of Flash

• Demonstrate a clear skill set and focus on interaction design with successful portfolio samples

• Knowledgeable in design fundamentals including color theory, typography, composition, and photo retouching.

• Able to work well with design direction and be capable of executing tasks in alignment with style guidelines.

Length: 6 month part-time internship (approx. 15-20 hours/week) or 1 year part-time internship.

We partner with people who are vibrant contributors to our community to provide holistic resources to foster healthy, imaginative, empowered people and artists.

Responsibilities:
• Vision & Growth: Aid in strategic planning to develop and implement vision, growth, brand recognition, and community participation.
• Advisory Team: Aid in developing an Arts Advisory Team for Convergence made up of local arts leaders.
• Relationships: Assist in developing new relationships with group artists and organizations, and developing and maintaining database of patrons and audience members. Act as liaison to current space usage partners through excellent communication and relationship building.
• Events: Responsible for setup and takedown of some events. Attend and coordinate volunteer efforts for on-campus events.
• Contracts: Create clear, concise, detailed contracts for groups and meetings, and manage contract and proposal documentation for artists.
• Sites: Conduct site tours, work with jurors and arts advisory team to schedule and facilitate exhibits, shows, workshops and events.
• Budgeting: Aid in budget preparation and financial structuring of arts program, tracking budget for arts events, residencies, and commissioned works.
• Vendors: Work directly with vendors (printers, caterers, newspapers, etc.)

Job Description:
The National MS Society, National Capital Chapter is looking for a talented individual to help develop and design Chapter publications, including newsletters, program brochures and direct mail pieces. Contribute your graphic design skills and gain experience working for a world free of MS. This position is funded by the ExxonMobil Foundation as part of the Community Summer Jobs Program.

Requirements:
• Internship takes place May through August 2011
• Intern must work a minimum of 35 hours a week for 8 weeks.
• Candidates must be currently enrolled, full-time, undergraduate students enrolled in a U.S. college/university who will be returning to college as a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior in the fall of 2010. (Full-time is defined as at least 12 credit hours.)
• Graduate students are not eligible.
• Student must have earned at least 24 credits.
• International students must be eligible to work in t he U.S.
• Position is a paid internship.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and design numerous publications for client programs and services, special events and traditional fundraising.
• Support the Chapter's graphic design department on special projects as assigned, such as editing mass-market brochures and the Chapter's newsletter.
• Contribute to or otherwise assist the Graphic Design Coordinator.

Skills Desired:
Qualified applicants should have:
• Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Strong foundation in the principles of Graphic Design and Typography.
• Good oral and written communication abilities and a desire to work with a variety of people.

GW Hillel Seeks Graphic Design Intern

Position Title: Graphic Design Intern


Position Description:
GW Hillel seeks a graphic design intern to help with the re-branding of the organization on campus. Projects will include the creation of marketing materials and logos for two major campus initiatives; additional projects to be added as needed.

This is a fantastic opportunity for those interested in graphic design and non-profit organizations. The intern will be able to expand their portfolio while supporting a rapidly evolving organization. The position offers great exposure to the inner workings of a non-profit with supportive supervision and leadership development.

Initiative is on the GW campus with flexible hours; 5-10 requested per week.


Qualifications:
• Experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop or other similar programs; intern must have access to one such program on their personal computer

• Attention to detail with willingness/patience to edit as needed

• Familiarity with web design, marketing/branding experience a plus

• Available for approximately 5-10 hours/week

• Intern is not required to be a GW student

Corcoran Gallery Seeking Interns for Summer 2011

The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC is currently accepting applications for the Summer 2011 session. The summer internship program runs for ten weeks from early June through mid-August and is open to juniors and seniors in college, graduate students, and students between academic degree programs. The program is an excellent way to gain first hand museum experience for those intending to pursue careers in the arts. The summer program includes weekly panel discussion with Corcoran staff and visits to local Washington, DC arts organizations to meet experts in other artistic fields. The summer internship requires a full-time commitment from interns who work 9 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday and the internship is unpaid.
