Looking for a website development intern:

The project idea had its genesis with the beginnings of the HOT lane work. The clearing project is causing the destruction of wildlife habitats and the removal of many native plants as well as old growth quality forest. The general concept of the project is to bring together a variety of organizations to address the soil restoration, wildlife and plant issues being created by the HOT lane project. In addition, it would bring together partners to provide support to address potential environmental impacts of future growth and development. The project will support the county's green initiative and can grow in scope and focus as the project matures. It could include planting of trees, preserving RPAs, soil restoration, addressing invasive plants, restoration of wildlife habitats, and community gardening. The partner who is bringing the project to the table references two projects in other areas of the county as examples of the type and scope of the potential project: The New York Restoration project (www.NYRP.org) and a project between the Wildlife Habitat Council and the Georgia Power Company to restore their retention lines. She has reached out and garnered possible support from: Linda Burchfiel (Environmental Quality Advisory Council), The National Wildlife Habitat Council, The Potomac Watershed groups, Friends of Accotink, Sharon Bulova’s office (Mark Thomas), Jeanette Stewart (For Lands and Waters – Donaldson Run Project).

Description: L-3/D.P. Associates is seeking a Junior 3D artist reporting to the Lead
Artist/Character Artist in their Arlington, VA location. The candidate will work
to create high quality character animations and models. This includes
painting textures and rigging. Finished products include interactive flash,
composited aftereffects videos, design & print work. Clients range from the
Department of Defense, local Government, Division to Division and
Commercial.
Duties: Essential Duties:
• Animate characters in 3ds max. This includes lip synching to audio and
bones/biped animating.
• Rigging and texturing of existing or new characters.
• Work with Lead Character Artist to create animations and new designs for
characters.
• Be able to model realistic characters as opposed to cartoon style or game
lever characters.
• Be able to give characters a sense of personality and life.
• Plan scenes by storyboarding sequences.
• Comping Renders with Aftereffects and adjusting.
• Running and managing networked renders.
Other Duties:
• Working in Photoshop to create designs/illustrations for other ongoing
projects in the department.
• Creating collateral and misc. print work.
Requirements:
• Completion of an Art & Design Program from accredited post-secondary
institution. BFA preferred.
• Strong understanding of human anatomy, proportion, scale and
perspective.
• Strong understanding of principles of animation.
• Strong sense of design.
• Solid knowledge of 3ds max & Photoshop.
• Good understanding of Aftereffects and compositing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact
effectively with writers.
• Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change.
• Ability to adapt to the visual styles of others.
• Adapt to the flow of various projects at one time.

Just a reminder that AVT internships that you would like to receive credit for must be registered and paid for before the internship can begin. The class is AVT 489 (it cannot be registered for online, registration requires that you take a paper form to the Registrar).

Deadlines to register for this class are:

Fall 2009 internship applications are due Friday, September 4, 2009 by 3:00pm.

The EIC Internship provides a credit-bearing internship that provides a meaningful
experience and contribution to the student's program of study. Interns will work on
various program areas of EIC such as human trafficking, gun violence prevention, bipolar

What the Internship Provides

Fall or Spring Semester Credit

In coordination with surrounding universities and colleges, EIC will provide an unpaid
fall, spring and/or summer internship with semester credit. Students are expected to
research, write, and use analytical skills to carry out specific assignments related EIC's
program areas, and other responsibilities that may entail general administrative tasks.
Interns are responsible for housing and other expenses during the internship. Excellent
performance may culminate in a full-time position with the organization.







Core Program Activities

The EIC internship will start at the beginning of the semester with a brief orientation on
EIC's mission and the scope of work for the specific program area the student is
interested in. Topics include major health issues such as HIV/AIDS, bipolar disorder,
drugs, alcohol and tobacco, addiction and recovery; and social issues such as gun
violence and injury prevention, sun safety and skin cancer, and human trafficking. During
the course of the internship, interns may have the opportunity to attend a prestigious
event on Capitol Hill and also be involved in the process of organizing the PRISM
Awards ceremony held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles in April.
