Front-End Designer/Developer Wanted

Cstraight Media in Vienna, VA is looking to hire a talented, skilled, and motivated front-end web designer/developer. The applicant must be creative and hard-working, understand the importance of deadlines, and be self-motivated to learn and grow.

We are looking for somebody to start right away as either a paid intern or part-time employee with the potential for full-time employment post-graduation.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must have an impressive online design portfolio and front-end coding (HTML/CSS/JS) experience.
• While we will consider all qualified applicants, we would prefer a student nearing the end of their undergraduate studies.
• Candidate must have a strong interest in pursuing a career in the web design/development field upon graduation
• Cstraight will work with the candidate to determine the exact schedule of hours/days; however, we are expecting the individual to be available to work at the Cstraight office between 10AM and 6PM for a minimum of 16-20 hours per week.
• Must be legally able to work in the U.S.

• I am a Computer Science Major with no design skills or background
• I do not have an online design portfolio.
• I am a print-only designer.
• I only have a beginner level or conceptual-only level understanding of XHTML/CSS/jQuery/JavaScript/PhotoShop

Job Description:

The candidate will be asked to assist with the ongoing maintenance of our client list, work on new projects, and to help our business grow wherever possible. We expect the candidate to be reliable, and able to learn quickly. The person we are looking for should have the following personal qualities and technical capabilities:

• Working knowledge of JavaScript and the integration of jQuery components and other JavaScript libraries into XHTML/CSS layouts
• Photoshop manipulation and design skills (such as chopping up layered files for HTML) and ability to optimize graphic files are both a plus
• Quickly able to debug rendering issues across multiple browsers and operating systems
• Understanding of the relationship between front and back- end programming with knowledge of programming concepts such as variables, conditionals, classes, etc.
• Must have the ability and desire to keep their skill set current to include all new and relevant web technologies.
• Understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform limitations
• Work in a collaborate development environment, providing assistance and technical guidance to less experienced team members
• Be self-motivated with a positive attitude and have strong communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people with a variety of skill sets
• Demonstrated ability to form effective partnerships across the organization
• Flexibility -- ability to work in a fast-paced environment on tight project schedules
• Excellent organizational skills and high attention to details and follow through

Compensation:

We have no problems paying a premium hourly rate for a premium candidate. An hourly rate for our newest team member will be agreed upon after we assess the talent and skill level of the individual via a personal interview.
