Instinct Design seeking graphic design intern

Instinct Design is seeking a graphic design intern for the fall semester of 2010. The position reports to the Creative Art Director, and entails 180 hours of work at our office in downtown Fairfax, VA.

Duties will include:
- Designing in-house marketing materials
- Extensive use of the Adobe Creative Suite and QuarkExpress
- Light production duties, such as uploading and downloading files from our FTP server and making corrections to copy and designs

Ideal candidate will:
- Have a portfolio which demonstrates their understanding of the basic fundamentals of graphic design theory, and shows good use of typography
- Have taken relevant coursework towards a career in graphic design
- Have extensive experience using the Adobe Creative Suite
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Be able to describe the reasons for the design decisions and directions of each item in their portfolio

This position is unpaid, however the candidate may receive college credit through their institution for participation in this program.

Successful candidates will come away having worked on a wide range of design projects, will have strong items to include in their portfolio, and will have an even stronger understanding of the design field.
